就活開始時期:2016年12月
学校・専攻:名古屋工業大学大学院工学研究科
      後期博士課程

I came to Japan from India in October 2014 and joined Nagoya Institute of Technology as a MEXT scholar to pursue my Ph.D. in organic chemistry. I had always been attracted by the technological advancements of Japan and during my tenure of stay here, I realised there was a lot of dedication, hard work and discipline behind such outstanding results. I wanted to begin my professional career in such a work environment and that’s when I decided to find a job in Japan.

However, being a Doctorate student, I was being told by some people that it was more difficult to find a job compared to a Masters student, and moreover, I had my added challenges of being a foreign student having only limited Japanese speaking ability. To overcome these hurdles, I started learning Japanese again and looked for companies which were looking to recruit English speaking foreign students. In the process, I had the problem of getting the correct information from the company’s website, as all recruiting information was provided in Japanese. But I believe, I made a good decision of starting early with the process of job hunting in December. This gave me enough time to find companies and shortlist the ones of my choice. During this time, one of my Chinese lab-mates informed me about the Ryukatsu. I registered for it and was contacted by its consultant almost immediately. I sent them my CV and also informed them about my limited Japanese skills. I asked them to suggest me a company which did not require high Japanese language efficiency.

In the beginning of February, they suggested a Chemical company which was willing to recruit Indian students. It was one of the finest chemical companies in Japan and they were ready to conduct the recruitment process in English for foreigners. It was the best that I could ask for and I immediately agreed to apply for that company. Thereafter, I started detailed research about the company, their history, vision, products, and future plans, which helped me to prepare for the test and interviews. I was immensely guided by the Ryukatsu consultant through every step of the recruitment including Skype chats to prepare me for the interviews. I got accepted to the company as a researcher and I am truly grateful to Ryukatsu for their contribution.

I want to contribute and use my experience for the development of products which are sustainable for the environment and in the process, I want to expand my base of knowledge. I hope to be able to work in the global platform of the company and make people throughout the world familiar with the disciplined Japanese work culture.

I strongly recommend Ryukatsu to any foreign students looking for a job in Japan. They can help you find a suitable company according to your criteria. Do not feel disheartened by the challenges and keep fighting and you will surely succeed.
